The **merchant portal** is where you manage everything for your company: your programs and pass designs, the passes you issue, customer messaging, and the transactions your customers generate in your stores. ## How it works How wallet passes work: the customer enrolls, the pass is added to their wallet, it stays updated automatically, the customer taps a Terminal or shows the barcode at checkout, and the transaction is recorded Each part of the journey has its own section in these docs: [enrollment](/enrollment/how-enrollment-works) covers how customers get their pass, [passes](/passes/overview) and [pass templates](/pass-templates/overview) cover what lands in the wallet, [Engage](/engage/overview) keeps passes updated with messages and notifications, and the [Transaction Log](/transactions/overview) records what happens at checkout. ## What you can do in the portal Set up loyalty programs and design how your passes look in the wallet.
