# Stell documentation for Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes

> Guides and API reference for issuing loyalty passes, memberships, tickets and access passes to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet with Stell.

Stell is a pass management platform. Your company designs a pass once and issues it to customers, where it lands in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and stays up to date on its own.

## How it works

A customer enrolls and the pass is added to their wallet. You keep it current from the merchant portal or from your own systems. At checkout the customer taps a Terminal or shows the barcode, and the transaction is recorded.

## Core concepts

The same words are used in the portal, in these docs, and in the API.

| Term | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Program** | The loyalty product, membership, or ticket offering you run. Everything else belongs to a program. |
| **Pass Template** | The design that defines how a pass looks and which fields it carries. A program can have more than one. |
| **Pass** | One pass issued to a customer from a template, living in their Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. |
| **Transaction** | The record of a pass used at a Terminal, with a status of Approved, Denied, Failed, or Pending. |
